Currently, Thornbush's offerings consist mainly of PaintBooks  which are online picture books for elementary-age children to look at, read, paint, scribble on, and listen to (there's music too if your browser is set up for sound!). For more about PaintBooks, click here.

PaintBooks Purpose:

• PaintBooks use pictures and rhymes to teach beginning language learners and entertain more advanced readers.
• PaintBooks inspire children by example, to make their own creative rhymes and pictures.

PaintBooks Distinctives:

• PaintBooks are childlike. Children see PaintBooks and say, "I can do that, too!" Their creativity is stimulated.
• PaintBooks promote creative, active response. Children may add their own text, drawings, and colors.
• PaintBooks appeal to multiple ages. Four-year-olds enjoy repeating the simple text and pictures.Six-year olds can sound out words and guess the meanings. Nine-year-olds are entertained by the double references and "inside jokes". Children of different ages can color or modify the pictures with more or less sophistication.

We try to spice things up so that even adults reading to their children can find something to keep them from falling asleep!
• PaintBooks are seriously silly. The silly pictures show the meanings of words,while the silly rhymes make sounds easy to remember.
• PaintBooks are indestructible. You can always come back to the Web to make another copy!
